Evaluation
To get an idea of components that can be re-used from SPITS/SPITS-live for further penetration of Intelligent Transport services, 18 modules developed by the SPITS consortium were chosen, which were designed and tested in the Netherlands. A thorough evaluation based on defined assessment criteria was made to come up with innovative ideas to upscale, upgrade & reuse these modules in the coming years. The criteria each module were rated against are:
-
Safety
-
Infrastructure
-
Information & Communication
-
Services
-
Security
-
Interoperability
-
Assets Management
-
Existence in the Market
-
Social Aspects
-
Traffic flow
Rating System
The rating system followed was 1, 3 and 9 scale.

-
1 - implies that the current project being evaluated is outdated in that domain. It could also imply that particular domain has further scope of improvement. If a domain is rated 1 in a module multiple times, it’s not recommended to reuse.
-
3 - implies that the module is neither outdated nor new. It could also mean that we can use this project with the same domain if other domains have higher rating.
-
9 - implies the subtopic listed under the domain and the domain itself is state the art.
